Many of the stresses of a business owner these days is in creating and maintaining great flow. Just when you think that things are going in the direction of your plan something comes up to interfere with that flow.
Staff and customers are important to the creation and maintenance of a great business but what happens when stress sets in. If this starts at the top it can cause a ripple effect on your profit. When you are being pushed from one point to the next you cannot get the flow established long enough to make the necessary changes to the business operation.
By examining the business from the highest point possible if can be simple to see what is not working. As a police officer I was trained to always take in all the information, witness statements, evidence particularly at a vehicle accident. But it is not until you can look at the whole scene, out of the emotions of all the victims that you can get a clear picture of what happened. I was taught to search for the ‘black dog’.
Once you had gathered all the information and discovered the black dog you can then set a correct cause to make the correct changes to ensure the flow. Then let’s set in place the systems to stop it going out of flow again and protect the system from challenges such as viruses (or negative staff influences).
Make the business (office or showroom) the great place to feel welcome and you can increase the flow of customers and decrease the exit of staff. This will instantly affect a better bottom line.
